Shahira has been studying dance and gymnastics from a very young age. She completed most of her dance education at Bohaty's School of Dance where she studied acrobatics, tap, jazz and Cecchetti-style ballet. She was a competitive gymnast and continued competing while attending Central Michigan University.

Shortly after completing her first degree from Central Michigan University, she began teaching dance, yoga and gymnastics in the Lansing, Michigan area at several dance studios and through Lansing Parks and Recreation. This continued for 7 years, until she returned to Central Michigan University and earned her second degree in Elementary Education. She is now an Art Educator.

After moving to Lansing, Shahira began taking Middle Eastern Dance classes and became hooked immediately. Currently she is an active member of the Habibi Dancers (a Middle Eastern dance troupe) from Lansing, MI. She continues to study Middle Eastern dance, primarily under Yasmina Amal. She has also recently been involved in Irish Dance classes as a new challenge to her dance répertoire. Shahira teaches regular belly dance classes in Jackson, MI and teaches belly dance and fitness related workshops and seminars in the Mid-Michigan area.
